 Many companies use vending equipment to assist in the sales and promotion of their products. For the Bottled Water industry, it is common to always have a water cooler for each customer. They are charged rent for the machine, and have water delivered on a regular basis for use with the water cooler. Vending equipment includes a variety of machines. These include coin operated vending machines, in store display coolers, water coolers, fountain machines, bar vendors, etc. They often include display signs and product logos, highlighting the product lines. Many of these machines are placed free of charge. This is common for machines placed in high volume locations, or in visible public locations. In these cases, the company wants to ensure they are getting additional sales to justify the cost of placing a vending machine at that location. Other vending machines may be rented to customers. The customer is charged monthly, quarterly, or annually. These rentals can also be seasonal, for customers such as summer resorts. In the Soft Drink industry, it is common to see Full Service vending machines. These machines are refilled by the company drivers. They restock the machine, and collect the cash for each machine. A commission is generally paid to the customer each month or quarter, based on the sales from the vending machines at their location. This is common for high volume customers, such as hotels. Vending equipment will be moved around frequently. Machines are picked up from customers, returned to the warehouse for cleaning and repairs, and then placed at another customer location. Many companies will maintain a staff of service personnel who are responsible for equipment repairs and movements. These persons will respond to customer service calls, move equipment, and perform changes to the equipment options and displays.
